The Brother KR-850 is a standard-gauge Ribber bed attachment manufactured by Brother. It is widely considered the most popular and advanced standard-gauge ribber produced by the company. It connects directly below the main needle bed of standard-gauge Brother machines, transforming them into double-bed knitting machines capable of complex ribbed, tubular, and double-bed jacquard fabrics.
Features & Functions[edit]
- Needle Count: 200 steel needles spaced 4.5 mm apart.
- Racking Handle: A mechanical racking lever shifts the ribber bed up to 10 pitches left or right, enabling textured rib structures and zigzag patterns.
- Half-Pitch Lever: Switches the bed between full-pitch (needles oppose each other) and half-pitch (needles intermesh) alignments.
- Lacy & Plating Options: Features carriage levers to slide stitches and came standard with a double-bed plating yarn feeder.

The KR-850 connects to standard-gauge Brother main beds (KH-820 up to KH-970):

- Color Changers: Compatible with KRC-830, KRC-900, and KRC-1000E double-bed color changers.
