Passap Duomatic
The Passap Duomatic is a series of double bed knitting machines manufactured by Passap, a Swiss company. The most commonly referenced model is the Duomatic 80 (often abbreviated as DM-80), known for its robust construction and versatility. While no longer in production, these machines are still widely used and supported by parts suppliers.[1][2]
Production Status[edit]
The Duomatic 80 is no longer in production.[1] However, fully refurbished machines and a wide range of spare parts are still available from specialized retailers, with some guaranteeing service and parts for several decades.[1] The machine is also frequently found on the secondary market, such as eBay.[3][4]
Features and Specifications[edit]
- Needle Beds: The basic Duomatic 80 machine is equipped with two independent knitting locks and two needle beds.[1]
- Needle Count: Each needle bed has 179 needles and pattern jacks.[1]
- Color Changer: A two-color changer is included as part of the basic equipment.[1] Optional 4-color changers were also available.[2]
Construction[edit]
- The chassis and ground plate of each needle bed are made of distortion-free bonderized steel.[1]
- The needle beds utilize a modular system, consisting of 9 individually mounted needle bed modules.[1]
- Each module is made of highly resistant polystyrene and contains 20 case-hardened-steel needle channels with corresponding Passap latch needles made of case-hardened steel.[1]
- This modular design allows for easy and cost-effective replacement of individual modules. This robust concept is also used in the needle beds of the Passap E-6000 electronic machine.[1]
