The Ultimate Sweater Machine (commonly abbreviated as USM) is the final production model in the Bond knitting frame line, marketed under the Caron and Bond America brands. It features a charcoal grey carriage and dark grey plastic beds.
Specifications & Capabilities[edit]
- Gauge: Standard 8.0 mm needle pitch (mid-gauge, approx. 3.25 gauge).
- Needles: 100 plastic hooks on a flatbed.
- Modular Sections: Like its predecessors, it is built with modular pieces that interlock. It can easily be extended to 150 or 200 needles.
- Keyplates: Comes with four standard keyplates representing hand-knitting needle sizes US 6 to US 10.5.
Enhancements over Older Models[edit]
Compared to the Bond Classic and Incredible Sweater Machine, the USM featured:
- An improved carriage design with smoother gliding actions.
- Standard inclusion of a row counter.
- Packaged with instructional DVDs instead of VHS cassettes.
