- Historical context: Following the original Gearhart company's bankruptcy in 1925, the Clearfield Knitting Machine Co. was established in Clearfield, PA. They supplied Gearhart machines, manuals, and parts to distributors (such as Ainslie) from 1926 to 1928, before parts production transitioned to the Superior Appliance & Pattern Co. --KnitFactoryImpl (talk)
