Strickfee (German for "Knitting Fairy") is a vintage manual domestic knitting machine manufactured in the former East Germany (GDR) by VEB Wirkmaschinenbau Karl-Marx-Stadt (Chemnitz).[1]
It is a single-bed flatbed machine usually housed in a robust, portable wooden carrying case. The Strickfee was first introduced in the late 1950s and showcased at major industrial exhibitions such as the Leipzig Trade Fair in 1958. It is operated by manually sliding the carriage across the needle bed to form stitches, supporting manual texture patterning and adjustable stitch density.
