The Silver Reed SK-840 (also branded as Studio SK840) is a standard-gauge electronic knitting machine produced by Silver Reed (and currently sold by Silver Viscount / Studio).[1] It features 200 needles with a 4.5 mm pitch.
Computer Integration[edit]
Unlike Brother electronic models which contain built-in pattern memories and screens, the SK-840 does not have a built-in pattern memory console:
- External Control: The SK-840 carriage features electronic solenoids that must connect to an external PC interface (such as a Silver Link box) running CAD software (such as DesignaKnit) to select needles and knit patterns.
- Pattern Width: When connected to a computer, pattern repeats are unlimited, allowing designs across the entire 200-needle bed width.
- Stitch Types: Capable of electronic fair-isle, slip, tuck, lace, and single-motif work.
