Severyanka (Russian: Северянка) is a vintage Soviet-era domestic flatbed knitting machine manufactured in the USSR by the Vulkan plant (associated with the Karl Marx Leningrad Machine-Building Association).[1]
It is a manual, single-bed machine equipped with 200 latch needles and a 5mm needle pitch. The Severyanka is known for its extreme mechanical simplicity and robustness, providing a highly manual, "hands-on" knitting experience. Unlike some later models, it does not feature electronic or punchcard pattern readers, requiring all patterning to be done via manual needle selection.[1]
