The Knittax AM3 (commonly sold as the Knittax Automatik AM3) is a standard-gauge, metal-bed knitting machine manufactured by Karl Steinhof in Germany during the 1960s. It represents an upgrade over the manual M2 model by incorporating semi-automatic selector levers directly on the carriage.
Carriage & Patterning[edit]
- Selector Levers: Features built-in automatic levers on the carriage. These levers automatically select needles into forward pattern positions on subsequent passes, enabling faster tuck, slip, and color patterning without manual needle-by-needle manipulation.
- Weightless System: Uses Knittax's iconic Platinen sinker technology. The carriage automatically controls the loops without the need for heavy claw weights, making setup and tension regulation simple.
