Help: Moderation & Approvals This guide explains how the wiki's moderation system works and how Administrators can grant page-approval permissions to trusted community members.

Overview of the Approval System[edit]

To protect the wiki against spam, vandalism, and incorrect details, the site uses the Approved Revs extension.

  • By default, all edits made by standard users are queued as "pending" and do not display to the general public until they are reviewed.
  • Users with approval permissions (Administrators and members of the Approver group) can review pending revisions and mark them as the "approved" revision.

Granting Approval Permissions to Other Users[edit]

Only users in the Sysop (Administrator) or Bureaucrat groups can change other users' permissions.

Step-by-Step Guide[edit]

  1. Log in to your administrator account on the wiki.
  2. Navigate to the special user rights page: Special:UserRights.
  3. In the search box, enter the Username of the user you want to promote (e.g., JaneDoe) and click Load User Groups.
  4. Under Select user groups, locate the checkbox for approver.
  5. Check the approver box.
  6. (Optional) Add a brief explanation in the Reason for change box (e.g., "Granting trusted contributor edit approval rights").
  7. Click Save User Groups.

Once saved, that user will immediately see the "Approve" link at the top of history tabs and revision pages, allowing them to approve pending edits for the community!
