The Brother KH-311 is an early vintage standard-gauge domestic knitting machine manufactured by Brother in Japan. Released in 1959, the KH-311 is historically significant as the prototype and engineering foundation for Brother's subsequent line of highly successful home flatbed knitting machines.[1]
Design & Specifications[edit]
- Manual Operation: It is a non-patterning machine. Tuck, slip, mock rib, and colorwork require manual needle selection using selector combs or hand manipulation.
- Sinker Plate: Features a detachable sinker plate assembly that guides the yarn and holds down stitches.
- Needle Bed: Spaced at a 4.5mm pitch (standard gauge) with 200 steel latch needles.
- Metal Cabinet: Houses folding bed flaps that fold outward for knitting stability and inward for compact storage.
