The Lamb LT 150 is a high-end, modern circular sock machine (CSM) manufactured in Chicopee, MA. It is a modernized reproduction of the antique Tuttle machine, which Lamb produced between the 1890s and 1920s.[1]

Key Features[edit]

  • Dual Feed System: The LT 150 is the only CSM currently in production that features a 2-feed cam system. This allows the knitter to create unique structures, such as a "brioche-mimic" ribbed cuff, that cannot be produced on single-feed machines.[2]
  • Cone-Shaped Ribber: Unlike flat ribber dials, the Lamb ribber is cone-shaped, positioning needles at a 45-degree angle. This mimics the natural motion of hand knitting and provides superior stitch formation.
  • Cylinder Versatility: Compatible with a range of cylinders (typically 60, 72, or 84 needles) and the "Little Lamb" 36-needle attachment for infant socks.
  • Construction: Features a heavy cast-iron frame and nickel-plated steel components, weighing significantly more than antique counterparts for increased stability during high-speed cranking.

Technical Specifications[edit]

  • Operation: Hand-cranked
  • Needle Type: Levana 66.117 G01 (Universal for cylinder and ribber)
  • Feed Type: Dual Feed (Standard) or Single Feed (Traditional model)

Maintenance[edit]

Because it is a precision-machined industrial-grade tool, the LT 150 requires regular lubrication with high-quality machine oil on the cam tracks. The "open" design allows for easy cleaning of lint, which is critical when using high-shed natural fibers like wool or mohair.
