The Brother Knit Leader (commonly found in models KL-116 and KL-117) is a mechanical garment-shaping attachment. It mounts onto the rear of the needle bed and acts as an interactive row-by-row mapping guide, removing the need for manual row-by-row stitch calculations.
How It Works[edit]
1. Paper Patterns: The knitter draws or traces a paper pattern of the garment (at 1:1 full scale or 1:2 half scale) onto a transparent plastic sheet. 2. Row Advancement: The plastic sheet feeds into the leader roller. A mechanical tripper lever on the carriage bumps the leader feed gear on every carriage pass, advancing the sheet. 3. Increasing & Decreasing: As you knit, the pattern line moves across indicator scales, showing you precisely how many stitches to cast on, increase, or decrease in real time.
