The Brother KH-260 is a popular bulky gauge punchcard knitting machine manufactured by Brother and sold under both the Brother and KnitKing brands.[1] It features 114 needles spaced 9.0 mm apart, making it designed specifically for heavy yarns (such as bulky, chunky, and worsted weight yarns) that cannot be knit on standard-gauge machines.

- Gauge: 9.0 mm needle pitch (Bulky Gauge).
- Needle Bed: Heavy-duty steel bed containing 114 needles.
- Patterning: Uses standard 24-stitch punchcards. The mechanical card reader selects needles automatically to produce patterns like tuck stitch, slip stitch, fair isle, and weaving. It also features a pattern double-height elongation setting.
- Carriage controls: The carriage has Russell levers for short-rowing (holding position) and buttons to activate slip, tuck, and fair isle patterning. The sinker plate is equipped with adjustable tuck rubber wheels.
Compatible Accessories[edit]
The KH-260 can be expanded with several dedicated bulky accessories:
- Ribber: The Brother KR-260 ribber bed connects to the main bed to enable double-bed knitting (ribbing, double-bed tuck, circular tubular knitting).
- Carriages: The Brother KA-8300 transfer carriage can be used to quickly transfer stitches from the ribber to the main bed.
- Color Changers: The Brother KRC-900 double-bed color changer allows automated 4-color swapping.
- Garter Bar: Bulky-gauge garter bars are compatible for manual stitch turning and shaping.
